Lara Logan Assaulted In Egypt

CBS News correspondent Lara Logan was beaten and sexually assaulted Friday in Cairo while covering the Egyptian revolution. Separated from her crew in Tahrir Square, Logan suffered 'a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating' before being rescued by a group of women and soldiers. She is expected to be released from an American hospital today.

The 39-year-old South African is no stranger to tense situations, having reported frequently from Iraq and Afghanistan. Logan joined CBS News in 2002 and contributes regularly to '60 Minutes' and 'CBS Evening News.'

The assault comes one week after Logan and her crew were detained by Egyptian police. She told Esquire they were 'arrested, detained, and interrogated. Blindfolded, handcuffed, taken at gunpoint, our driver beaten.'
