TV ratings ? 21 February: Outcasts pulls in 2.7m before being cast out

BBC1 sci-fi drama gets a 10.8% audience share in its last Monday night slot

SO LONG, FAREWELL ...

Outcasts: BBC1, 9pm ? last night was the struggling sci-fi drama's final Monday outing before it is banished to the scheduling outer darkness of Sunday at 10.25pm for its final three episodes.

The drama averaged 2.703 million viewers and a 10.8% audience share ? marginally better than last Tuesday, when Outcasts faced stiff competition from The Brit Awards and Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, but otherwise its lowest figures.

Outcasts was more than 40% down on BBC1's average audience share in the slot over the past three months.

The BBC1 drama came third in its slot, behind ITV1's The Biggest Loser (3.866 million/15.4%, ITV1 +1 135,000/0.7%) and Channel 4's One Born Every Minute (2.655 million/10.6%, C4+1 384,000/2%).

Other 9pm competition included new BBC2 series When Teenage Meets Old Age (1.987 million/7.9%) and Channel 5's Royal Navy Caribbean Patrol (2.03 million/8.1%).

The Channel 5 documentary series is developing into a hit, with yesterday's edition 86% up on the slot average share for the network over the past three months ? the best performer of the day by this metric on the five main channels.

GIVE 'EM THE OLD RAZZLE DAZZLE

Ross Kemp: Extreme World: Sky1, 9pm ? the Bafta winner's new documentary series launched with a look at the impact of heroin on Chicago.

Extreme World averaged 452,000 viewers and a 1.8% audience share in a keenly contested 9pm slot in multichannel.

E4's Glee, vying with Being Human to be the biggest non-sports hit in multichannel right now, averaged 1.347 million viewers, with another 299,000 on E4+1.

Other 9pm multichannel competition included BBC4's When God Spoke English: The Making of the King James Bible (575,000), ITV3's Rebus (rpt ? 852,000), Film4's Alien Resurrection (rpt ? 515,000) and Sky Living's America's Next Top Model (200,000).

Sky Living's supernatural drama Bedlam continued from 10pm with 320,000 viewers.
