Anderson Cooper and news team punched by pro-Mubarak mob in Egypt

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and his crew were attacked by the supporters of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Tuesday. The "Anderson Cooper 360" host said they were trying to get between the two sides of protesters in Tahrir Square when they were "punched and kicked."

Cooper said they were trying to find a neutral spot between the pro and anti groups, but they never made it that far. A mob tried to break their camera because they didn't want to be on film. The attackers pushed and shoved the news team and punched them in the head.

He explained on the news network: "Suddenly a young man would come up, look at you, and punch you in the face. The instinct is try to punch back. But in a situation like that you really can't because that just inflames the crowd all the more."

"So all we could do is just try to walk as quickly as possible, stay together and seek a safe location which is where we are now."
